Steeped

I am in editing mode these days. The draft for my second novel was shelved for a while , and now I am drinking in my own words, plucking some out, adding some in. Straining and stirring until I get the blend just right. Never perfect, because perfection is bland.
It feels a little bit like time travel, revising one’s finished work. I am confronting the writer that I was months ago and trying to make her brilliant, all the while wondering who between us is the better writer. Does time always make things better? A pot of tea could use some steeping time. But it could cool down, become stale if left sitting for days.
Your Prompt: Try a tea that you have never drank before. It doesn’t have to be a fancy kind, just something new to you. Note the aroma and the taste and think of the kind of person that would enjoy it. Or loathe it. Sketch out a bio for this character.
Quick Tip
Watch out for words that you may be misusing. For example, is the experience really unworldly or otherworldly? Is the protagonist fearsome or fearful? The road could be windy or winding.
About Writing Desk
Years ago, I gave up blogging for good. But I changed my mind and here we are. Aside from maintaining a consistent writing practice, my goal is to build a live space outside social media for content that supports the creative process, free of mindless, addictive, and AI-generated distractions.
May your visits here be frequent but brief. The idea is to offer something that will light a spark, not distract from your writing. For this reason, I don’t post Writing Desk on social media. Thanks for stopping by!
